I much prefer the metric equivalents; it's the only way I bake anymore. I mostly go by feel these days, but if I am using a recipe, I much prefer measurement in grams.

I am not British (alas!!) , but I find the measurements in grams really helpful as I happen to own a kitchen scale and find it less cumbersome to weigh things than use scoops (less mess too).

Hear hear! I would bake in grams even if I wasn't a Brit.

Metrics 100%! Any excuse to use a scale instead of measuring spoons & cups. 😂

America is changing. Yes to metrics!

I want to make this for brunch tomorrow but would like to do the work before my friends arrive. Any harm to leaving them to chill for more than 20-30 minutes (say, 2 hours)?

No harm whatsoever. 2 hours is great. I wouldn’t leave them overnight.

A terrific recipe for scones. I've not tried to make coconut ones before but I will definitely give this one a try.

I made these this morning and they are delightful! However, my coconut didn’t stay a lovely shade of brown and got a little darker than expected as I wanted the bottoms to get a little browner. Any tips??

Did you use untoasted coconut for the top? If I ever face over-browning, I lay a sheet of aluminum foil on top of what’s baking — just to act as a visor — without cinching closed.

I did! That’s a great tip - thank you!

Love the sound of these! And yes to metric measurements - so much easier!

Will add these to my “to bake” list - can already imagine how nicely they would go with a coffee (and maybe a lick of salted butter and lime curd if I am feeling fancy!).
